RoboForm Password Manager

I currently maintain the Web site (and do some tech support work) for the Camp Fire Illinois Prairie Council as a volunteer. Recently I received a phone call from a staff member wondering if they should go ahead and pay the annual CA anti-virus subscription renewal to maintain updates for the next year. I already knew they had AT&T DSL service and I decided to check and see if AT&T offered a free Anti-virus download. They do with McAfee and to save money we decided to proceed with it on four machines (the max permitted) and install AVG on a fifth machine.

OK, what does this have to do with RoboForm? Because Comcast, the ISP I use at home also offers a free McAfee subscription and the installs at Camp Fire went so well I kind of wanted to use it at home instead of paying for the Norton Internet Security subscription like I have for several years. What has stopped me in the past is that I had become very dependent on Norton’s Identity Safe program which is packaged with Norton Internet Security. I have so many passwords that I cannot possibly work without some type of program to keep track of my passwords. I was using an Excel spreadsheet for a long time but that was way too cumbersome so I started using Norton.

Anyhow, the dilemma I had was how to take advantage of the free McAfee anti-virus and still have access to an efficient password manager. I started researching programs to find a free download capable of replacing the Norton password manager and I ran across RoboForm. I had heard about RoboForm in the past but never used it. It was listed as a free download so I grabbed it.

RoboForm: Learn more...

RoboForm is fantastic!!!! I love it and will not give it up. It totally outperforms Norton Identity Safe for password management. Much much faster. It is free to use for up to 10 Passcards, each of which holds password information for a particular Web page. 10 is sufficient for many people but if you have more than that you will want to upgrade to RoboForm Pro which at the time of this posting is $29.95 for a single license. Multiple license pricing is also available.

For those of you already using Norton, migrating to RoboForm is pretty easy. I’m in the process of doing it now. When you go to a page that requires a log-on let Norton fill the fields on go ahead and complete your log in. After you’re done RoboForm will ask you if you would like to Auto Save the Login. Click the “Save” buton and using this format you can migrate all of your passwords from Norton Identity Safe to Roboform. It’s really pretty simple. RoboForm can extract the password from the field for you even though it is protected.

The Wall Street Journal, PCWorld, the New York Times and others have also given this product great reviews.

WSJ Article on Footwear

A recent article in the Wall Street Journal noted that as we grow older our feet tend to expand and change shape. This applies to both men and women and these changes often begin in our 50’s. Apparently arches can flatten and tendons and ligaments can weaken. No doubt that is why comfort shoes seem to be more and more popular as the baby boomer population ages.

RSVP Shoe Sale

This is from the Slick Deals forum:

RSVP shoes on sale for $9.95 at 6pm.com ($6.95 flat shipping or free w/ $100 purchase)
Go to 6pm.com and search for RSVP. All of the RSVP brand shoes are on sale for $9.95. Please note that when searching, the prices don’t always show as $9.95, but if you click on the shoe and go to the individual page it shows as $9.95 (down from prices ranging $50-$220).

There are way too many for me to pick out individual ones that are good deals. As of right now there is a very big selection in styles, colors, and sizes. For guys, there are boots, dress shoes, casual shoes. For ladies, there are boots, high heels, flat shoes, etc.

Shipping is a flat $6.95 or free with an order > $100.

Hopefully I didn’t miss any details.

Protandim - Prevent Free radical Damage?

We were researching the numerous benefits of green tea and were brought to the subject of antioxidants, which green teas are rich in. Then, kind of in a roundabout way we ran across an interesting product called Protandim.

From what we can tell this product does not contain antioxidants but instead triggers the body to produce more of its own two antioxidant enzymes which helps prevent free radical damage to your cells. Protandim claims to do this thousands of times more effectively than any conventional antioxidant therapy.

The product has been featured on ABC PrimeTime Live, NBC Today Show, and the PBS series “Healing Quest”. Video clips of the segments are available on the company website.

Protandim is clinically proven to slow down the cell aging process to the level of a 20 year old. Learn more at Protandim.com.

The also offer a Free Trial if you are a new customer and enroll in the auto-ship program. Looks like you only pay shipping and they give a customer service phone number to cancel if you choose to.

Where’s George?

We just got back from a trip to northern Wisconsin last weekend and as I was sorting the bills in my wallet I came across a dollar that was stamped: Track this bill at www.WheresGeorge.com It wasn’t hyperlinked but you get the idea.

Anyhow, I have a step-son named George who is very Web savvy and who has been on the road for sometime. Because we don’t know where George is right now I typed in the Web address on the extremely slight chance that “our” George put up the site. Well, he didn’t and the “George” in the URL refers to George Washington but what a cool site. I entered the serial number of my dollar bill “L83242103A” and the series “2006″ and a Bill Tracking Report appeared showing me that the bill has most recently traveled from Brooklyn, NY. What does this have to do with shoes? Not a whole lot but it just seemed like a fun site.

Deckers Flip Flops

This is from Katherine at Deckers … I have some great news to share with you all that I’m personally super excited about! So, as you know, we (Deckers Outdoor Corporation) own three great shoe brands that have experienced tremendous growth.

Well, I am very excited to let you know we now have a fourth brand to add to the family! Deckers Flip Flops are back!

Deckers Flip Flops were born in the early 70s and were all the rage in surf shops up and down the southern California coast. Deckers flips went away as the company focused on its then-partnership with Teva. After a 14-year long siesta, and a LOT of customers asking for these, we’ve decided to bring these back as an online-only brand with free shipping, free return shipping, a 100% lifetime guarantee and, if you owned a pair from back in the day, you can send them in for a brand new pair. Check out the site to learn more about these amazing flip flops.
